Police in Malava Kakamega County are holding a 23-year-old man who yesterday 15th November tried to bribe a Kenya Defence Force (KDF) Officer in the ongoing countrywide recruitment exercise.
According to the police report, the young man had written Ksh 400,000 in his palm as he tried to attract the recruiting officer’s attention as a bribe to secure a place in the military.
“The 23-year-old potential recruit had written Ksh 400,000 on his palm, an indication that he intended to offer that amount to the recruiting officer,” the officer said.
Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla (Vice Chief, Defence Forces) had on Monday warned Kenyans that whoever will be bribing their ways to the forces system will face the long arm of the government.
“KDF reiterates that any form of corruption is not allowed in the recruitment exercise and that the process is free and fair to all eligible Kenyans.” KDF statement reads.
