Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in the Anti-Narcotics department based at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport have today seized 630 grammes of heroin concealed in calabashes, destined for Canada.

Acting on information from DHL security on a suspicious consignment dupped African calabash destined for Canada from Nairobi, the ANU officers moved with speed, confiscating the creamish powdery substance.

After a verification procedure, the substance tested positive for heroin, which was then released to the detectives for safe custody as pursuit for the drug racket involved kicks in.

This is not the first time the hard drug has been nabbed by DCI detectives this year.

On 3rd November 2021, a 27-year-old Ugandan woman suspected of trafficking heroin was arrested and 30 pellets of the highly addictive drug were recovered from her.

The woman identified as Bizu Rubi Halima, was arrested at a hotel room in Hamza along Jogoo Road, Nairobi where she is believed to have been waiting for her Kenyan contact to deliver the drugs to him on Tuesday night.
