The Deputy President William Ruto has promised to pledge KSh1million to Sex Workers in Mtito Andei, Makueni County.
Speaking during a rally in the area, the DP asked the workers to organise themselves in a SACCO where he promised to deposit the money.
The DP was responding to workers who had appealed to him to release the ‘Hustlers Empowerment Fund’. The DP acknowledged that unemployment had become a national crisis, leading the youth to get depressed and venture into criminal activities and drugs.
“Kenya cannot be built by stipends. We need jobs and business opportunities that will make them economically independent,” he said.
Ruto and his allies have been traversing the Country, rallying Kenyans to support the bottom-up economic model.
He argues that the model will promote inclusive and sustainable growth through a robust framework that will foster enterprises in our country.
