Karim Benzema is set to be called back by Didier Deschamps in the French National team after six years of absence.

The Real Madrid striker hasn’t played for France since he was accused of helping blackmail former teammate Mathieu Valbuena with a sex tape in 2015.He has denied the allegations.

Benzema’s fine form has seen him net 22 league goals and 8 assist in Laliga. Wit just three weeks until the Euros starts, reports in France have claimed that the manager will call up him for this summer’s tournament.

The striker has scored 27 goals in 81 appearances for France, scoring four goals at the 2014 World Cup, although he did miss out on the 2010 tournament despite playing in the 2008 Euros.

Benzema’s huge rival is set to be Chelsea forward Oliver Giroud. In an interview with french news outlet, Benzema labeled Giroud as a go kart. “This won’t take long. You don’t confuse F1 with go-karting. And I’m being kind. Next… and I know I’m F1.”
