Notorious ex-policeman gunned down by in Gilgil

Police in Gilgil have shot and killed a former police officer who was caught trying to cut down a metal signboard to sell as scrap metal in Gilgil.

According to the Inspector General of police Hillary Mutyambai, the victim Arnold Madete was shot by security officers in Gilgil. Mutyambai has also said that the victim was serving sentence under probation.

“The ex-policeman had earlier been convicted of theft of scrap metals and is serving sentence under probation,” Mutyambai said. 

Police also arrested another theft suspect who had crude weapons and a motorcycle which were recovered. Police have also launched a manhunt for a third suspect who escaped during the incident.
